If i had to chose between the outsiders book or movie, i'd definetely pick the book. I think i'd pick the book because you can really feel the characters feelings, and get to know them. Or maybe Ijust like reading. I hate how movies skip details and scene in books, including irrelevant parts. I know they're taken out because they make the movie lag, and go on for too long, but I guess I miss them :) Books are just so much easier to understand. The book makes the characters really deep, especially for greasers (maybe not Steve or Two-Bit) The movie makes the plot out to be kind of simple, when it's really complex. The movie doesn't really show Johnny's relationship with his parents (or its non-existense) or Bob's and the connection they both have. After watching the movie I wouldn't of thought Ponyboy admired Sodapop as much as the book says he does, let alone the fact of how much Sodapop is actually struggling to be the 'perfect one' in Ponyboys eyes, and the amount of stress the events in the book are causing him to have. Movies are also very easy to mess up when they're adapted from a book (or just badly made) but I think the movie does the book some justice, and the characters were well casted.
